Hi, I’m Gerald Derby, 20 years ago I entered the working world as a “writer”. Writer was what I called myself, starving artist was more like it. I spent most of my time as a columnist for a small newspaper hoping for a novel of mine to get published. It’s said once your in, your in; what’s not said is how hard it is to actually get in.

As time went on and the rejections built up a friend of mine introduced me to the wonders of wood turning. It started out as a hobby to pass the time between stories, but the hobby grew into a passion. Two years ago I bought my first lathe and the magic started.

I am here now to offer my services to you as a full time wood turner, to share my creations with you. There are not many things as rewarding as seeing a piece of raw wood turn into a masterpiece, and now I wish to share them with you.
